Betting tips and match preview | Premier League

Tottenham face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, in the second round of games in the Premier League.

Spurs come into this match on the back of a 2-0 win against Newcastle, an excellent start to their season.

Newcastle captain Jonjo Shelvey had a moment of madness in the 48th minute, stamping on Dele Alli in front of the referee.

His sending off completely changed the game, with Newcastle competing with Tottenham up until that point.

Dele Alli opened the scoring for Spurs (61), rubbing salt in the wounds of both Shelvey and the Magpies.

Ben Davies capped a fine performance and a start with Tottenham’s second (70), sealing all three points for Spurs.

Success Needed

Tottenham had an excellent campaign last season, with Pochettino’s men the only team that pushed Chelsea all the way.

Spurs have yet to spend a single penny, the only transfer activity has been the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

They have a huge first game in their adopted Wembley home, with Antonio Conte’s men coming to town.

They face a Chelsea side who are still reeling from their opening day defeat against Burnley, a match that saw them end the game with nine men.

Spurs Favourites

Mauricio Pochettino’s side come into this match as favourites, they are one of the front runners for the title as well.

This will be a tough start for Spurs, with Chelsea and Conte keen to improve on their opening display.

Tottenham will be looking to make it 46 wins in 141 matches against Chelsea.

Poor Start

The Blues come into this match in mixed form, after losing 3-2 against Burnley at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Gary Cahill was sent off early in the match for Chelsea (14), with the captain sent off for a reckless challenge on Steven Deffour.

Burnley capitalised on their one man advantage, with Sam Vokes opening the scoring just ten minutes later (24).

Stephen Ward doubled Burnley’s lead fifteen minutes later, with a fierce strike from an angle (39).

Sam Vokes returned for his second goal of the half (43), his header giving Burnley an incredible 3-0 lead at Stamford Bridge.

Alvaro Morata scored on his Chelsea debut after being brought on as a substitute (69).

Chelsea were down to ten men in the 81st minute, with Cesc Fabregas given a second yellow card after an appalling foul late on.

David Luiz did bring Chelsea to within one goal (88), an incredible effort for nine men and the match ended 3-2.

Ill Discipline

Antonio Conte will be looking for a strong response in this match, especially after the manner of the Burnley defeat.

To lose at home and have two key players sent off is a poor start to the campaign, to lose to Burnley as well represents a huge problem.

The Diego Costa saga continues to rumble on as well, with the Brazillian yet to report back to the club for pre season training.

Blues Underdogs

Chelsea come into this match as the underdogs, with Tottenham’s home advantage informing the odds.

The Blues will be looking to win this fixture, it will go a long way to silencing the problems that hang over Conte and the Bridge.

Chelsea will be looking to draw on the 4-2 win at Wembley the last time these two sides met.
