Betting tips and match preview | Premier League
Southampton welcome Leicester to St.Mary’s, in the first of a packed Super Sunday schedule.
The Saints come into this match on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Burnley, with the Saints topsy-turvy form continuing.
Joey Barton (78), scored a late free kick to give Burnley all three points, continuing their excellent home record.
Barton will be delighted with his second stint at Burnley, especially after his spell with Rangers was dogged with controversy.
It’s another poor result for Southampton, who despite beating Liverpool in midweek flattered to deceive again.
Southampton Need Consistency
The Saints have had a reasonably mixed bag throughout the season, that win is their first in five matches though.
They have won just one of their last six matches, with one draw and four defeats in that sequence.
Claude Puel will know that record simply isn’t good enough, and he will be wanting his side to improve their Premier League form.
Southampton come into this match as favourites, despite their own poor form but home advantage is key.
This will be a tough fixture for Claude Puel’s side, with Claudio Ranieri’s side desperate to rediscover their form of last year.
The Saints will be looking to better their recent record against Southampton, they have failed to win any of their last six meetings.
Foxes In Poor Form
Claudio Ranieri’s side come into this match on the back of a hammering at home, with Chelsea beating them 3-0.
With all the controversy surrounding Diego Costa, this was the perfect response from Chelsea’s forward line.
Marcus Alonso was the surprise hero for Chelsea, with two goals either side of the half-time, his first coming in the 6th minute.
It was the perfect start for the Blues, with the Spaniard returning in the 51st minute to grab his and Chelsea’s second.
Pedro completed the Spanish inquisition in the 71st minute, to deliver another hefty blow to Leicester and solidify Chelsea’s position at the top.
Given Leicester’s away form this season it is imperative they pick up home points, that was a truly terrible performance though.
They face a Saints side who are in dire form themselves, although they haven’t fallen to Leicester’s depths yet.
That was Leicester’s 10th defeat of the season, they only lost three throughout their title winning campaign.
Champions Leicester find themselves 15th in the Premier League, 2 places and 3 points behind the hosts Southampton.
Leicester come into this match as the underdogs, with their dismal away record informing those odds.
They will be looking to gain their first away win of the season, in the process registering a third win in six.
Ranieri’s side will be looking to better their overall record against Southampton, with the Foxes winning 16, drawing 16 and losing 21 of their 53 meetings.
Both teams are 1/1 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Southampton are Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez at 4/1 with Dusan Tadic at 11/2. For Leicester, Jamie Vardy is at 13/2 with Ahmed Musa at 15/2.
The last time that these two sides met they drew 0-0 and the odds of the same result are 15/2.
