Preston v Leeds | Saturday 7 May | 12.30 kick off
Leeds make the trip to Preston on Saturday afternoon for their last game of the season. Preston are favourites to take the three points on their home soil, they can be backed at 23/20 to do so. Leeds are less favoured in the market, priced at 12/5 for the win. The draw is available at 23/10. In the reverse fixture earlier this season, it was Leeds who came out on top with a 1-0 victory and Elland Road.
Preston have had a fairly strong season, finishing in the top half. They will feel they probably could have challenged for the top six, but all in all they have had a positive season with some good performances. They experienced a dip in form recently, failing to win in five Championship games on the trot. However this came to an end at the weekend when they travelled to Reading. Beckford put Preston in front in the 56th minute. Reading pulled it level late on, in the 86th minute. Preston showed good character to bounce back and regain their lead in the 91st minute through a Johnson goal. They will be looking to see off the season on a high note this weekend.
Leeds have against missed out on challenging for promotion. It has been a long wait to see them back in the top tier of English football and we will have to wait another year. The owner has high ambitions for the club and will be disappointed with a mid-table finish. With the ambitions of the club, each player will be playing for their place in the team next season, adding pressure on the last game of the season. They had a disappointed game last time out, losing out to relegated Charlton. After going down by two goals in the first half, Leeds could only respond with one goal through Bamba. The game finished 2-1.
Leeds will be desperate to impress their owner this weekend as it’s their last chance. They are in a tough game to do so but each individual will be looking to stake a claim for a place in the teams next season.
Antenucci to score first – 13/2
