Portsmouth v Bournemouth, January 30, 3.00pm
2008 FA Cup winners Portsmouth are the outsiders in this fixtures and can be backed at 2/1. Premiership side Bournemouth are 11/8, and the draw is available at 23/10.
League Two side Portsmouth will be relishing the challenge of facing a Premiership side this weekend. A good cup run could be key to their season if they are unable to get a promotion place come May. They fought hard in the last round against Championship side Ipswich, forcing the game to a replay with a 2-2 draw away from home and subsequently knocking their opponents out of the Cup with a 2-1 win at Fratton Park. In rounds one and two they knocked out Macclesfield and Accrington Stanley. Their league form is decent but nothing to shout about, picking up seven points from their last five games.
Bournemouth edged out Birmingham in the third round, winning 2-1 away from home. They went a goal down but a pen form Tomlin and a 85th minute winner from Murray sealed their place in the fourth round. They will be happy with the draw, facing one of the few lower league sides left in the competition but will know that they can not take any opposition lightly in cup football. They have their head just above water in the league, four points clear of the drop zone, however they have only picked up five points in as many games recently. This weekend will be a much needed respite from the relegation battle.
In a round of FA Cup fixtures at least one team will always let you down your accumulators. I think this game will be one to watch out for in that respect. I think Portsmouth could force a replay from their Premiership opponents.
Draw – 23/10
