Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota Wild Preview – Jan 7th, 2016

Article previews the upcoming game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Minnesota Wild.

The Minnesota Wild and the Philadelphia Flyers are yet to meet in the 2015/16 NHL season. However, the two teams will clash on Thursday night in a game that will come from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Heading into the game it is the Minnesota Wild who are favored. With bet365, for example, Minnesota enter as -165 (20/33) favorites on the money line. Philadelphia enter at +145 (29/20) with the same firm. Looking at the odds and the relevant team stats, it’s pretty easy to see why Minnesota are the favorite and perhaps they should be considered an even stronger one.

The Wild, so far in the 2015/16 season, have been a very strong team on home ice. Entering Thursday they are a firm 14-5-1 when hosting – a home record that is similar to what the very elite teams do. Philadelphia, conversely, are just a 7-10-3 team when playing on the road. Measured in terms of straight wins and losses, that’s a 14-6 split against a 7-13 split.

The Flyers enter Minnesota having won their most recent game. However, Philadelphia have been notably bad on the road of late. Recently the Flyers went on a California road trip, one that saw them lose a trio of games. This isn’t a team that travels and plays well and they appear to be major underdogs in St. Paul on Thursday.

The starting time for the game is 8pm ET. Look for the Wild to win this one, perhaps even by a comfortable margin.

Recommendation:

1-pt win on Minnesota at -165 with bet365
