Nottingham Forest v Bolton, January 6, 3.00pm
The hosts are clear favourites in this fixture and open the betting at the odds on price of 4/6. The travelling side, Bolton, are the outsider price of 4/1. The draw can be backed at 11/4.
Nottingham Forest have been kings of the draw lately, drawing four of their last five league games. Strangely enough, those four games have all ended 1-1. Previous to four draws on the trot, they beat MK Dons given them a fair decent eight points from their last five games. They would have hoped to have turned some of those draws into wins, but fit the bill for a mid-table side. They are currently 12 points adrift from the play-off places and will need a solid run of wins if they are going to put themselves into contention. However they will be happy with their season if they can put together a decent cup run, which they started with a win over QPR last weekend. Unlike their opponents they have the luxury of not having to have a midweek replay.
Bolton will have to keep an on their midweek game after they disappointingly drew with National League side Eastleigh last weekend. With only two wins this season it is almost like Bolton can not just seem to win a game, even against much lesser opponents. They are still firmly rooted to the bottom of the table and have only picked up a single point in their last five Championship fixtures – form that fits a club at the bottom. They are not too far behind that they can not catch up, but it is hard to see where their six points will come from to climb out of the bottom three. They look dead set for relegation and will need a bit of a miracle to be out of the drop zone anytime soon.
I think Forest will be business as usual in this game and win by a couple of goals.
Forest to win by exactly 2 goals – 7/2.
