Betting tips and match preview | Premier League

Middlesbrough welcome Tottenham to the Riverside on Saturday afternoon, with Boro looking to recover from their defeat against Everton last weekend.

Boro come into this match on the back of a 3-1 defeat away against Everton, with Ronald Koeman’s side consigning Boro to back to back defeats.

First-half goals from Gareth Barry (24), Seamus Coleman (42) and Romelu Lukaku (45+1), were enough to give Everton all three points.

A Maarten Stekelenburg own goal was enough to give Middlesbrough the lead in the 21st minute, that was as good as it got for Aitor Karanka’s men though.

Their result prior to that was a 2-1 defeat home to Crystal Palace, their first defeat of the new season.

Aitor Karanka will have been disappointed with their first defeat, he will be delighted with their overall start though.

Middlesbrough In Good Shape

Back to back defeats have knocked the shine off Middlesbrough’s excellent start, all hope isn’t lost though with 5 points from their opening 5 games.

They will be looking to avoid three successive defeat’s though, they will also be keen to register their first home win of the season as well.

They have conceded five goals and scored only two in their last two matches, something that Karanka will be desperate to improve.

Difficult Opposition

Middlesbrough face another challenge in the form of Tottenham this weekend, with Spurs enjoying an excellent start to the season.

This will be another tough test of Middlesbrough’s credentials, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side undefeated heading into this match.

Boro will be looking to maintain their overall record against Tottenham, in 79 matches they have lost 28, drawn 20 and won 31.

Tottenham Enjoying Excellent Start

Tottenham come into this game in excellent form, they remain unbeaten as well one of only three teams left to do so.

They come into this match on the back of a dogged 1-0 win against Sunderland, with Harry Kane the difference between the sides in the 59th minute.

It was an excellent win that sees them remain in 3rd place, behind Everton and Manchester City on 11 points.

Spurs have also progressed to the next round in the EFL Cup as well, courtesy of a thumping 5-0 win against Gillingham on Wednesday.

Goals from Eriksen in the 31st and 48th minute, were followed by Janssen in the 51st minute via the penalty spot.

With youngster Josh Onomah capping his excellent debut off in the 65th minute, three minutes later Lamela made it five, consigning Gillingham to a hefty defeat.

They will meet Liverpool in the next round at Anfield, in a round that has drawn some incredible match ups.

Great Season So Far

Spurs have started the season in excellent fashion, with three wins and two draws from their opening five matches.

The 2-1 loss to Monaco was not the Champions League debut Mauricio Pochettino was hoping for, with Tottenham losing at their adopted European home of Wembley.

Tough games against Liverpool and Everton have been navigated without defeat, with wins against Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Stoke fully maximised.

Up until the game against Stoke they had been goal shy, but recent performances have put paid to that in emphatic fashion.

Middlesbrough Tough Task

Tottenham face a tough fixture against Middlesbrough, who have lost two successive games and will be keen at home to put the record straight.

Tottenham will be looking to maintain their excellent recent record against Middlesbrough. They have lost just one of their last 9 fixtures against Boro.
