Betting tips and match preview | Premier League
Manchester United welcome Stoke to the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday, with Manchester United looking to make it four successive wins.
They come into this match on the back of a 4-1 win against Leicester at home last weekend, a result that ended United’s dreadful run.
Goals from Chris Smalling (22), Juan Mata (37), Marcus Rashford (40) and Paul Pogba (42), completed an unprecedented first half for United.
It was the first time since 2006 that United scored four goals in the first half, given United’s poor showings at home last year it’s an enormous statement from Mourinho’s men.
Back In Form
Leicester did manage to grab a consolation goal through Demarai Gray (59), who’s stunning effort from the left managed to thunder past David de Gea.
That win will have delighted manager Jose Mourinho, but the 1-0 in Europe against Zorya was a great follow up.
At times it was less than pretty against a side that United found hard to break down, the introduction of Wayne Rooney led to the goal.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic finishing at the near post to give United their second home win in five days.
Home Side Favourites
United come into this match as favourites and will be looking to make it three wins inside a week, against a Stoke side that are struggling.
Jose Mourinho’s side are 7th in the Premier League, with a win enough to take them up to third if results go their way.
Their record against Stoke in the Premier League is excellent, although their recent record is mixed.
Rock Bottom Potters
Stoke travel to the Old Trafford after gaining only their second point of the season, in a 1-1 draw against former boss Tony Pulis’ side West Brom.
Joe Allen opened the scoring in the 73rd minute for the Potters, but more poor defending saw them concede a 93rd-minute equaliser from Salomon Rondon.
With four successive defeats against Man City, Tottenham, Everton and Crystal Palace, Mark Hughes could have done without this tough fixture.
Yet To Win
Stoke have failed to capitalise in any game this season, with two draws and four defeats in their opening six matches.
They will be desperate to win and get that form going as soon as possible, there is no doubt they have suffered with the fixture schedule so far.
Only West Ham have a worse defensive record than the Potters, but they have also scored the least amount of goals this season.
Stoke come into this match as underdogs, they will be looking to avoid five defeats in seven matches.
This will be a tough fixture for Mark Hughes’ side, with United now back in form after a tough period of successive defeats in the Premier League.
Stoke will be looking to improve their overall record against United, in 75 matches they have won 17, lost 36 and drawn 22.
Both teams are 10/11 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Manchester United are Zlatan Ibrahimovic at 11/4, with Marcus Rashford at 7/2. For Stoke, Wilfried Bony is at 11/1 with Marko Arnautovic at 12/1.
The last time that these two sides met United won 3-0 and the odds of the same result are 7/1.
