Betting tips and match preview | Premier League
Manchester City welcome Everton to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to register a win after the international break.
Pep Guardiola’s side come into this match on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham, prior to the international break.
It was the first defeat in any competition for Guardiola since he joined Manchester City in the summer.
The Spaniard will be looking to see his side’s response to that defeat, in Everton they face a side who recently lost their first match of the season.
Spurs were outstanding at White Hart Lane in the 2-0 win, with goals from Aleksandar Kolarov (9 og)and Dele Alli (37) enough to settle the tie.
It was the first time this season that City failed to score, with Hugo Lloris at his best to deny Sergio Aguero.
That defeat followed on from the 3-3 draw against Celtic in the Champions League, a match that was absolutely incredible to watch.
Pep Guardiola will be demanding a response from his charges, it is the first time this season that City have found themselves in this position.
Manchester City have had an excellent start to life under Guardiola, winning their first 10 consecutive matches in all competitions.
They still find themselves top of the Premier League despite the ending of their perfect record but a win will see them remain top.
Their recent record against Everton is good, losing just once in their last eight Premier League meetings.
Everton travel to the Etihad Stadium on the back of a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
It’s a result that is likely to have disappointed Ronald Koeman, with the Toffees needing to win those types of home games to progress.
The match ended up being decided by two Belgians, with Lukaku opening the scoring for the Toffees in the 35th minute, only for Christian Benteke to equalise in the 50th minute.
After taking the lead in that match Koeman will have been disappointed to be pegged back.
Everton Need Response
Everton find themselves in 5th place in the Premier League, just four points off their hosts Manchester City.
The former Southampton manager has had an excellent start to his Everton career, losing just the one match against Bournemouth.
Everton have declined in recent weeks, with the game against Norwich the start of this mini loss of form.
The 2-0 defeat in the EFL Cup has seen them follow up with a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth, followed by a 1-1 draw with Palace.
Much like Manchester City, Ronald Koeman will be wanting to see a response from his side in this fixture.
Everton come into this match as underdogs, they will be looking to avoid their second defeat of this new Premier League season.
This will be a tough fixture for both sides, with both enjoying excellent starts but now both will need a response to recent opening defeats.
Everton will be looking to better their record against Manchester City, in 164 matches they have won 59, lost 63 and drawn 42.
Both teams are 4/7 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Manchester City are Sergio Aguero at 11/4, with Kelechi Iheanacho at 9/2. For Everton, Romelu Lukaku is at 7/1 with Enner Valencia at 11/1.
The last time that these two sides met Manchester City won 3-1 and the odds of the same result are 10/1.
