Betting tips and match preview | UEFA Champions League
Lyon welcome Juventus to the Stade des Lumieres on Tuesday evening, in the third round of matches from the Champions League group stages.
The French side come into this match on the back of a 2-0 defeat away against Nice.
Goals from Baysse in the 5th minute and Seri (76) gave the home side all three points, with Fekir’s sending off leaving Lyon with 10 men for an hour of the match.
That result leaves Lyon in 8th position in Ligue 1, a gap of ten points between themselves and the leaders Nice.
Lyon In Mixed Form
Lyon had gone into the weekend’s fixtures in mixed form, although they had beaten St. Etienne 2-0 at home prior to that result.
They have remained just as inconsistent in the Champions League, winning their opening match against 3-0 against Dinamo Zagreb in convincing fashion.
The French side followed that up with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Sevilla on matchday 2, with Ben Yedder scoring the only goal in the 53rd minute.
Their indifferent form this season means that the Italian side remain favourites, with Juventus top of both the group and Serie A.
They will be looking to register their second win of the competition this season, they will also be looking to make it two home wins.
Their overall record against Italian sides is mixed, they have played 18, won 7, drawn 4 and lost 7 of those matches.
Lyon have also lost their last three matches against Italian opposition and have suffered in their last two fixtures against Juventus, losing by 2-1 and 1-0 in the 2013/14 Europa League.
Juventus Looking To Cement Place
Juventus travel to the Stade des Lumieres on the back of a 2-1 win against Udinese at the weekend.
It’s a result that Massimiliano Allegri will have been delighted with, his side remaining five points at the top of Serie A.
Paulo Dybala grabbed a double, with goals in the 43rd & 51st minute, the second one coming from the spot.
Jankto (30) ensured that Udinese took a shock lead against Juventus in Turin, they were unable to prevent the onslaught either side of the break though.
Topping The Group
Juventus will have targeted topping the group as the minimum requirement, despite the presence of some top sides.
The opening draw against Sevilla was a reminder that topping this group will not be an easy task.
They did manage to produce a strong performance in the last match against Dinamo Zagreb, winning by 4-0.
Goals from Pjanic (24), Gonzalo Higuain (31), Paulo Dybala (57) and Dani Alves (85) ensured a comfortable win for the Italian giants in Zagreb.
Juventus come into this match as favourites, they will be looking to register their second win in the Champions League this season.
This will be a tough fixture for the Old Lady, with any away game in the Champions League tough but they have remained unbeaten in their last four matches against Ligue 1 opponents.
Allegri’s men will be looking to maintain their record in France, in 24 matches they have won 14, drawn 5 and lost 5.
Both teams are 10/11 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Lyon are Alexandre Lacazette at 6/1, with Nabil Fekir at 9/1. For Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain is at 3/1 with Paulo Dybala at 5/1.
The last time that these two sides Juventus won 2-1 and the odds of the same result are 7/1.
