Betting tips and match preview | Premier League
Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Anfield in a huge Premier League match, with Liverpool in desperate need of a win.
Jurgen Klopp’s men come into this match on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Hull, continuing a poor run of four defeats in five matches.
It was an excellent response from the away side, who had lost captain Michael Dawson to injury in the warm up.
Alfred N’Diaye (44), opened the scoring for the Tigers just before half time, with Simon Mignolet making an error.
Oumar Niasse (84) scored a great counter attacking goal six minutes from time, to give Hull hope of avoiding relegation.
It was another poor display from Liverpool, who slip further into disarray, with four defeats in their last five games.
Winless Streak Continues
The Reds are enduring a mini-crisis, with the Chelsea draw giving Liverpool some hope but the Hull defeat ended that.
Liverpool’s only hope of silverware is the Premier League, with the Reds now a massive 13 points behind Chelsea.
They have lost five of their last seven matches, with 2017 a less than perfect year for Liverpool.
Some fans have called for Klopp to be sacked, he will be delighted to have Sadio Mane back from AFCON.
Liverpool head into this fixture as the favourites, another defeat would mean they have suffered five defeats in six matches.
Another defeat could mean they drop all the way down to sixth, given their start this season would be a huge failure.
The Reds will be looking to continue their overall record against Tottenham, with Liverpool winning 70, drawing 39 and losing 42 of 151 fixtures.
Tottenham In Great Form
Spurs come into this match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win against Middlesbrough, with Tottenham struggling again.
Harry Kane (58) opened the scoring for Spurs in the second half, with Kane converting from the penalty spot.
It was Kane’s 16th goal of the season, which isn’t bad when you consider he was out for a long period at the start of the season.
It means that Spurs remain the only side close to Chelsea, but that gap is still a huge nine points.
Spurs Targeting Silverware
Tottenham have had a good league season so far, with this win ensuring they remain above Man City in second place.
They are in excellent form, they have won four and drawn two of their last six matches and a win here will be huge for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino will have been delighted with their recent form, they will be looking to claw back the nine-point deficit in the Premier League.
Tottenham come into this match as underdogs, despite their excellent form and Liverpool’s shocking slump.
This will be a tough fixture for Pochettino’s men, with Liverpool a wounded animal and in need of a home result.
Tottenham will be looking to better their recent record against the Reds, with Spurs failing to win in the last nine matches.
Both teams are 4/6 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Liverpool are Roberto Firmino at 5/1 with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi at 11/2. For Tottenham, Harry Kane is at 5/1 with Dele Alli at 7/1.
The last time that these two sides met Liverpool won 2-1 and the odds of the same result are 8/1.
