Betting tips and match preview | Premier League
Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield in a huge Premier League clash, with Liverpool on the verge of beating an unwanted 94-year record.
Jurgen Klopp’s men come into this match on the back of a 2-1 defeat, another defeat at home against Wolves in the FA Cup.
Richard Stearman (1) scored the first goal in the first minute, immediately putting Liverpool on the back foot.
It was another counter poor moment for the Liverpool defence, they were slightly unlucky though with Stearman narrowly offside.
Andreas Weimann (41) struck just before half time, giving Jurgen Klopp another headache in the half-time team talk.
Divock Origi (86) grabbed a consolation for the hosts, but it was a very poor performance from the Reds who deserved nothing from the game.
Winless Streak Continues
The Reds are now seemingly in crisis, with three defeats in a week meaning they are now out of two cup competitions.
This means that Liverpool’s only hope of silverware is now the Premier League, with the Reds ten points behind the visitors Chelsea.
They have lost four of their last five matches, with January an appalling month of results for Liverpool.
Some fans have called for Klopp to be sacked, he will be delighted to have Sadio Mane back from AFCON, although he may not be able to play in this match.
Liverpool head into this fixture as the favourites, another defeat would mean they have suffered four successive defeats at Anfield.
With the absence of European football this season, they have been able to perform well in the league but they are running out of steam now.
The Reds will be looking to continue their recent record against Chelsea, with Liverpool unbeaten in the last six league meetings.
Blues In Great Form
The Blues come into this match on the back of a 4-0 win against Brentford, with the Blues continuing their incredible season.
Willian (14) opened the scoring early on for the Blues, ensuring there were no such problems that other Premier League sides suffered.
Pedro (21) doubled the hosts advantage just seven minutes later, with the Blues heading into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Branislav Ivanovic scored the third in the 69th minute, with the defender drawing a foul to give Chelsea the chance to make it four from the spot.
Michy Batshuayi (81) duly obliged from the penalty spot, giving the Blues a comfortable win against the Championship side.
Chelsea Target Domestic Double
The Blues have had an excellent season so far, they have no European commitments so domestic glory will be the target for Conte.
They are top of the Premier League by a distance, with 8 points separating them and Arsenal, who have Champions League commitments coming up.
Unlike other Premier League sides, Chelsea put out a strong side and honoured the traditions of the Cup and progressed as a result.
The Blues come into this match as underdogs, despite their excellent form and winning mentality.
This will be a tough fixture for Conte’s side, with Liverpool beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier on this season.
Chelsea will be looking to better their overall record against Liverpool, they have won 56, drawn 38 and lost 71 of their 165 meetings.
Both teams are 8/11 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Liverpool are Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino at 5/1 with Divock Origi at 6/1. For Chelsea, Diego Costa is at 4/1 with Pedro and Michy Batshuayi at 13/2.
The last time that these two sides met Liverpool won 2-1 and the odds of the same result are 17/2.
