Ipswich v Middlesborough, December 3, 19.45
The home side go into this fixture as very slight outsiders at 6/4, with the away side priced at 7/5. There is not a lot to split the sides price-wise and the draw can be backed at 11/5.
Ipswich had a convincing away victory last weekend winning 3-0 at Charlton. However they still find themselves just outside of a play-off position, something they will be hoping to change this weekend. Out of the next three fixtures, Middlesborough will be the toughest. The fans will be hopeful that the home advantage can secure them a win and go into the following two fixtures confident and push themselves into the play-off places through the Christmas weeks. A victory will also close the gap between their opponents to five points, putting them in contention of an automatic promotion place with other results going their way.
Middlesborough fans will have mixed emotions over the past week. They clinched a decent away win last weekend, winning 2-0 against Huddersfield, albeit a game they feel they should win. However the midweek League Cup fixture against Everton seen their cup run come to an abrupt end. The silver lining to this is that they can concentrate on the league, however after knocking out Manchester United on penalties the club would have liked to progress further in the competition. I don’t think the results will have too much of a damaging affect on the side this weekend and more than likely will be looking to spring back into form. The only issue is that some key players may be feeling the affects of a busy schedule.
I can’t see either side being broken down with any ease, although both sides have the capabilities to get goals. I think the game will finish a draw and a low scoring one.
Correct Score; 1-1 – 11/2
