Hull v Derby | Tuesday 16 May | 19.45 kick off
The last game in the Championship play-off semi finals will see Derby make the trip to Hull. Derby are the outsiders of the two to win in 90 minutes, priced at 13/5. Hull are slightly better than even money to get the win, 11/10 is their price. The draw is available at 23/10. In the first leg, Hull made a massive step towards the play-off final with a more than convincing 3-0 win at the iPro Stadium.
It was an all round impressive performance form Hull. Hernandez opened to scoring with an impressive strike from outside the area. Derby keeper Scott Carson will felt he could have done more with that strike. He could not have helped the second goal as after a couple of unfortunate deflections, the ball bounce off Shackell past Carson to double Hull’s advantage.
Derby fans had to wait until the 80th minute until their side got their first shot on goal, which was a tame effort from about 25 yards out. As they pressed on, they left themselves open to the counter attack, which Hull exploited perfectly in the 98th minute as Robertson rounded off the break away from a Derby corner.
Derby now have a mountain to climb in the second leg with a three goal deficit to overcome. They are huge outsiders to make it through to final, priced at 20/1. Hull are as short as 1/200. If Derby are going to stand a chance they will need a goal early on in the game, just to create a sense of doubt around the KC. The first goal to be scored in the first 10 minutes can be backed at 7/2.
Whilst it is not worth betting on Hull to go through, there is plenty of betting opportunities to add a bit of excitement to this second leg. I would like to see Derby get an early goal, just to upset the home crowd.
