Betting tips and match preview | Premier League

Crystal Palace welcome Stoke to Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon, with Palace looking to make it back to back wins this season.

Alan Pardew’s men come into this match on the back of an excellent 2-1 win against Middlesbrough.

After enduring a tough start to the season Pardew will be delighted with his side’s opening win.

New signing Christian Benteke opened the scoring on 16 minutes, with Wilfried Zaha with the decisive goal in the 47th minute.

Daniel Ayala equalised in the 38th minute, it was little more than a consolation for Aitor Karanka’s men.

Things Looking Up For Pardew

The signing of Christian Benteke for a club record fee of £32 million is a huge show of faith, he will be key for Palace this season.

Along with the delivery from Andros Townsend they have plenty of quality in the final third.

Wilfried Zaha is another player who can only enhance the attacking threat of the side, they will need to improve defensively.

Palace Look To Banish Last Seasons Memories

In 2016, Palace have lost an incredible 16 games out of 21 played and although Pardew is an Eagle through and through, this dismal run cannot continue.

They have arrested that to a certain degree with last weeks win, they will be looking to build on that excellent performance at home though.

Palace find themselves in 11th place, with four points from their opening four games.

Crystal Palace will be looking to maintain their overall and recent record against Stoke, in 37 matches they have won 20, lost 10 and drawn 7.

Can Palace make it back to back wins this season?

Stoke In Trouble

Stoke come into this match on the back of a 4-0 drubbing at home against Tottenham, it is the second heavy defeat at home this season.

Goals from Son Heung-min in the 41st and 56th minute, along with goals from Dele Alli (59) and Harry Kane (70) completed the route.

Mark Hughes will be alarmed by his side’s start to the season, especially given the calibre of players at his disposal.

Stoke have yet to win a game, with an opening day draw against Middlesbrough and a 4-1 drubbing at home, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City dispatching them with ease.

Rock Bottom

Their last match prior to the international break, saw them lose 1-0 away against Everton, with an unfortunate own goal from Shay Given enough for the Toffee’s.

A foul from Phil Bardsley on Ashley Williams was enough for referee Michael Oliver to point to the spot.

Leighton Baines stepped up and missed but the ball ricocheted off the goalkeeper’s head into his own net.

Stoke have a goal difference of -8, with Hughes’ side struggling at both ends of the pitch and they desperately need a win.

They find themselves bottom of the Premier League, with just one point from four games and three successive defeats.

Palace An Opportunity

Stoke will need to be far more clinical in front of goal, the signing of Wilfried Bony will go a long way to solving that problem.

They have scored just two goals this season and they will need to vastly improve.

Marko Arnautovic, Jonathan Walters, Bojan and Xheridan Shaquiri have yet to fire this season and there is plenty of scope for them to improve, starting with this game.

The signing of Bruno Martins Indi will provide Stoke with solidity at the back, with the Dutch international an excellent signing.

Their record against Palace is very poor, with five defeats and a draw in their last six matches.

Both teams are 5/6 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Crystal Palace are Christian Benteke are at 9/2 with Connor Wickham at 6/1. For Stoke, Wilfried Bony is at 13/2 with Peter Crouch and Marko Arnautovic at 8/1.

The last time that these two sides met Crystal Palace won 2-1 and the odds of the same result are 15/2.
