Previews the upcoming game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings, with a betting recommendation.
By: Shane Lambert
The Colorado Avalanche will host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night, a game that will mark the second between these two teams in the current NHL season. Colorado lost the first meeting between these clubs in a game that took place very early in the season. The Avs will try to avenge that 2-1 loss, a result that came from the Staples Center in October, as they host in Denver on January 4th.
But the Kings could prove to be a very tough team to beat on Monday night. Los Angeles are one of the strongest teams in the NHL and they certainly have not betrayed any sign of weakness of late. Recent wins over Edmonton, Calgary, Arizona, Philadelphia, and Vancouver prove that LA are not relaxing when facing foes that aren’t exactly upper tier at this point in the NHL season.
Furthermore, Los Angeles are a strong road team with a 13-5-2 record when playing as visitors. When you measure that fairly strong road record against Colorado’s horrible home record of 6-9-3 it seems clear who the proper favorite should be on Monday. The Avs have played terrible on home ice this season and it is hard to see their fortunes changing against a quality team like Los Angeles, even though Colorado are 6-2-2 in their last ten games.
The two teams will meet at 7pm (MT) and it’s not surprising to see Colorado come in as small underdogs. Betway, for example, make the Avs +114 underdogs while the Kings are -137 favorites with the same firm. LA could probably be regarded as a stronger favorite than that, with perhaps -200 more reflective of LA’s chances of winning.
1-pt bet on Los Angeles at -137 (about 5/7) with Betway.
