Betting tips and match preview | FA Cup
Colchester host Tottenham at the Colchester Community Stadium looking to complete a high profile giant killing in the early Saturday kick off. Visitors Spurs will be looking to continue their excellent form this season under manager Mauricio Pochettino whose stock continues to rise.
The hosts Colchester have been struggling in League 1 and find themselves at the bottom of the league, seven points adrift of safety and without a win since October, relegation looks inevitable. The home side will however be looking to give their fans something to cheer about, with an extended run in England’s premier cup competition, however they face one of the Premier Leagues form sides, who have only lost a handful of fixtures this season.
Pochettino’s Spurs Have Come Of Age
Tottenham come into this match with manager Mauricio Pochettino apparently catching the eye of the top sides according to the English press. He has done an outstanding job at Tottenham, they are at present the frontrunners to finish in the top four and can count themselves as genuine title contenders. They are over reliant on Harry Kane but with the January window still open and funds available from the sale of Andros Townsend they could still add to the squad with the Saido Berahino saga still raging on.
Although league form doesn’t count for much in the FA Cup it’s worth noting, Colchester come into this fixture with a record of one win, three losses and two draws, their only win coming in the third round against Charlton. This run has coincided with their decline and they find themselves bottom of League One, their last result was a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Scunthorpe.
For the visitors Tottenham their record in the last six is won three, drawn two and lost one. Their results have been excellent this season and they have been one of the standout performers this season, they have quality in all departments and a striker could give them a genuine title shot. Their last result was a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.
Both teams are 4/6 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Colchester are Chris Porter at 10/1 with Elliot Lee and Marvin Sordell at 11/1. For Tottenham Harry Kane is at 5/2 and Heung Min Son is at 4/1.
This is the first time the sides have met in a competitive fixture.
