Burnley v Preston, December 5, 3.00pm
The home side go into this fixture deservedly as odds on favourites and can be backed at 10/11. The visitors, Preston are an outsider price of 5/2. The draw can be backed at 11/5.
Burnley will only be content with their recent run of games, only picking up one victory in November, albeit drawing their other three games. Last time out they were made to work for their point with Cardiff and drew 2-2 away from home. Nevertheless they are still in good standing, sitting fifth in the league just four points from the top of the table. Their next two fixtures see them up against QPR and Middlesborough so will be looking to get back to winning away against Preston. They are fairly comfortable in their play-off position but will be wary that a run of bad results could see them drop out of the top six, whereas a few good victories could potentially put them in good standing for an automatic promotion position, where they are just two points off.
Preston are not exactly clear of the drop zone but will be happy not to be in the mix at this stage after only winning three games this season. Their trip to Burnley will be a daunting one but will be hoping for an upset. Three points will confirm another weekend away from the drop zone, however they will be aware that the teams below them are likely to drop points, taking the pressure off. After this weekend they have couple of home fixtures where they will feel they can pick up some much needed points.
Burnley look to be the side to back in this fixture but are little value at shorter than even money. I think it will be a cagey affair to open with but Burnley will come out on top.
Draw HT/Burnley FT – 7/2
