Bristol City v Blackburn, December 5, 3.00pm
Another close fixture this weekend in the Championship when Bristol City host Blackburn Rovers. The home side are very slight favourites and can be backed at 7/5, with the away side available at 6/4. The draw can be backed at 11/5.
Bristol City only picked up four points from four games last month and are one of the few teams down in the relegation dog fight going into the festive period. They were turned over 3-0 by second bottom Rotherham last weekend, a result they will have been bitterly disappointed with. They have got a few very difficult fixtures this month and will be looking to win this weekend to help steer them clear of the drop zone over Christmas. This is not necessarily a must win game for them in the big picture of things, but they will feel with the home advantage they can take something from the fixture. They have only taken all three points from three games this season, and will need to improve this dramatically to turn their season around.
Blackburn on the other hand have only won one more game than their counterparts this season but sit fairly comfortably in six points clear from the drop zone. They went through November unbeaten but only won one fixture. They will have been fairly happy with this run of games and now be looking to push their way up the table. They drew last time out in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at home and will feel they can win the next two fixtures. A draw will probably be an acceptable results but with the table as close as it is they will be looking for the all important three points.
Both sides are capable of winning this fixture, but both sides are very capable of losing games. I don’t think this game will end a draw, whoever turns up on the day will take all three points. Just going by last months results I think Blackburn are going to sneak an away win.
Blackburn to win 1-0 – 7/1
