Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday | Monday 16 May | 19.45 kick off
The second legs of the Championship play-offs get under way on Monday night with Sheffield Wednesday making the trip to Brighton. Brighton are favourites to get the win at home, priced at 13/10. Wednesday are slightly less favoured, they can be backed at 11/5. The draw is also available at 11/5. However, Brighton are a much bigger price to qualify, they can be backed at 5/1 to do so. Wednesday are odds on favourites to get through to the final, priced at 1/9.
In the first leg, Sheffield Wednesday got one foot into the play-off final with an impressive 2-0 win at home. Brighton will have been more than disappointed with the result and their performance. Wednesday dominated possession and created for more shooting opportunities than Brighton. Brighton could only manage a single shot on target which epitomises their performance.
Brighton will know they have a bit of a mountain to climb to get through to the next round. An early goal would really help their cause and pile the pressure of Wednesday. The price for the first goal to go in between 0-10 minutes is 7/2. Wednesday are likely to try keep the doors shut early on and try to frustrate the home crowd. The price for 0-0 at half time is 13/8.
I think Brighton will come out on top, whether they can overturn Wednesday’s two goal advantage is another question. Hemed has had a really good season, and being Brighton’s penalty taker he seems a decent price to get the first goal of the game.
Hemed to score first – 9/2
