Brighton v Charlton, December 5, 3.00pm
Table toppers Brighton are unsurprisingly odds on favourites for this fixture and the home side can be backed at 2/5 for the win. The away side are an outsider price at 9/2 to pick up all three points. The draw can be backed at 10/3.
Brighton have been on top form this season and are deservedly top of the table. Victory last weekend seen them go two points clear at the top. It was a hard fought victory against Birmingham as they came out 2-1 winners. They are still yet to lose a game this season and will be more than confident going into the game this weekend. With a big away game against the in-form Derby side next weekend they will be looking to secure all three points this weekend to put them in good standings for the festive period. They will be hoping that teams around them start to drop points around this time and they can pull away from the rest of the teams at the top end of the table.
Charlton will still be hurting from the 3-0 loss handed to them by Ipswich last weekend. They find themselves right on the brink of the drop after only four victories from eighteen games this season and have the worst goal difference in the league. They had a fairly good month in November, winning half of their games. A good results last weekend would have seen the pricing a little more favourable towards them, however after conceding three at home they are seemingly under priced against the table toppers. They are likely to try hold out for a draw but Brighton will create chances, luck will have to be on their side if they’re looking to take anything from this fixture.
Brighton are unbeaten and I am fairly confident this will remain the case for this weekend. I think Charlton are in for another heavy defeat this weekend and are likely to drop into the relegation zone.
Brighton (-2) – 7/2
