Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals will be played in Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.
The Eastern Conference Finals resume on Wednesday night as the series shifts over to Tampa Bay. The Lightning will be without Ben Bishop in net as it was reported by Dan Rosen of NHL.com that the day-to-day goaltender’s lower-body injury is still keeping him from competing. The Lightning do still have a chance in the game, but when looking at the odds you have to consider them longer underdogs than what is currently offered.
The going rate on the Lightning to win Game 3 is 11/10, a price that can be found with numerous sportsbooks including Betway, Bwin, and BetVictor. I think +220 (11/5) is the price that punters should be looking for on Tampa Bay in order to feel comfortable backing them, a price that isn’t available. Conversely, Pittsburgh backers should be looking for anything longer than -220 (5/11), odds that are commonly available. Bet365, for instance, offer odds of -129 (10/13) on Pittsburgh winning straight up.
21 year old Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start in Bishop’s place. The young netminder certainly has been effective in limited post-season play this season. However, you have to think that Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel, and Krist Letang are going to find a way to crack Vasilevskiy’s defenses as they get more experience taking shots at him. Game 3 could actually be an ugly one and Pitt to win straight up feels like a very safe bet.
Start time for the game is at 8pm ET with CBC providing the television coverage in Canada and NBCSN providing the TV coverage south of the border.
