Betting tips and match preview | FA Cup

Relegation threatened Aston Villa host Manchester City in an all Premier League FA Cup Fourth round tie at Villa Park. Remi Garde’s men have been hard to beat in recent weeks and will be looking to cause an upset by beating Manchester City, with Pellegrini looking to inflict more misery on the Midlands outfit.

The hosts Aston Villa have had a poor season thus far and to compound that it took two fixtures against League Two side Wycombe Wanderers to progress to the fourth round of this competition. They have seemingly turned the corner under Garde and are unbeaten in five matches, that does include the two ties against Wycombe but they have finally recorded a second Premier League win this month with a hard fought 1-0 win against Crystal Palace but would have been ruing the draw against rivals West Bromwich Albion.

City Riding High After Cup Win

Manchester City  come into this match full of confidence, having beaten Everton resoundingly in the second midweek Capital One Cup Semi Final. They ended up winning comfortably but will be delighted with the resilience shown after going behind to an excellent solo effort from Ross Barkley. It is questionable whether Pellegrini and City would want this cup run, given their commitments in the Champions League and in the Premier League. Throw in the Capital One Cup Final and then this FA Cup you would be mistaken for thinking it may be too much for City but they are one of the only squads capable of challenging on all fronts and will want to compete in this tournament for as long as possible.

Although league form doesn’t count for much in the FA Cup it’s worth noting, Villa come into this fixture with three draws, two wins and just the one loss. A significant improvement for Garde and Villa and regardless of the result in the cup, they will need to continue this form going into the last part of the season.

For the visitors City their record in the last six is won three, drawn two and lost one. Their results have been excellent and it has seen them overtake Arsenal to second place in the Premier League, trailing leaders Leicester by three points.

Both teams are 4/5 on to score. The first goalscorer odds for Aston Villa are Jordan Ayew at 17/2 and Gabby Agbonlahor at 9/1. For Manchester City Sergio Aguero is at 11/4 and Wilfried Bony is at 4/1.

These two sides have already faced off in the Premier League and Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw and the odds of the same result are 10/1.
